The 150 most famous scenes ever filmed on location
Every row is a real place and the most widely covered production filmed there. The order comes from one number, the count of Wikipedia languages that production is written up in, so the ranking is something you can check rather than an opinion you have to take on trust. A different film in every row, 34 countries, 1922 to 2023.

What counts as a scene here
Wikidata records that a production filmed at a place. It never records which scene, so a row claims a pairing and nothing more. Five rules keep those pairings to places you could stand in:
- Only places pinned to one spot. Shoots Wikidata records loosely, somewhere in Prague rather than at an address, are on the map but not in this ranking.
- Only places Wikipedia describes in 8 languages or more, which is the difference between a cathedral and an office block that once hosted a camera.
- No sound stages or backlots. A studio is where a production was made, not somewhere it went.
- Nothing used by more than 20 productions. A spot that busy is a working facility, and it belongs to none of them.
- One scene per production, its best documented place, so that every row is a different film.
Every row also says what the place is, in Wikidata's own words. Where English Wikipedia records what was actually shot there, that sentence is quoted under the row and linked to the article it came from: 88 of the 150 rows carry one. The rest stop at the pairing, because the honest answer to a scene nobody wrote down is an empty space.
Wikipedia coverage measures how widely something is written about, which is not the same as how good it is or how memorable the scene was. It is simply the fame this atlas can count.
